We designed The Portfolio Shoot day following endless requests, inquiries and advice wanted from artists regarding their Portfolio. Many had had what can only be described as ‘test shoot days from hell’ were finding building up their portfolio was proving to be very difficult and taking a very long in the process.

ISSUES FACED BY ARTISTS BUILDING UP THEIR PORTFOLIO

Some of the issues faced by artists that contacted us were:

Travel costs for trains or fuel and travelling many distances for test shoots,
Concerns over their safety during these travels
Models that didn’t turn up and no contingency plan so the shoot was cancelled
The models didn’t look like they did on their profile?
Rain on the test shoot led to the shoot being cancelled as there was no contingency plan in place
In a lot of cases artists didn’t receive the images from test shoots and it was a constant battle making call after call
Most test shoots were only 1 0r 2 set ups and geared to 1 or 2 looks for the day

So, following all these issues we designed the perfect day for all artists at any level. The Portfolio Shoot Day is ideal for those artists wanting to update of even start their portfolio. Maybe you’ve got an on-line portfolio and need to update your images with new ones in order to truly show case your work to your clients.

You may well be taking a Make-up & or Hair Master class with us or with another company then either way this day is perfect for then showcasing all that you have learned whilst still in the flow of your creativity and learning.

ARE YOU JUST STARTING TO BUILD YOUR PORTFOLIO?

If you are a beginner you will learn the invaluable importance of lighting – Make-up application varies for all manner of lighting, both indoors and outdoors. Working alongside your commercial photographer you will see and understand through your images on screen after each shot, the importance of this in your work. Your timings will also be put into practise here, which means you will be guided and gently encouraged to keep a track on the clock. This is an important aspect to any schedule and running order and subsequently will be an asset to the clients on any booking when timings are met.

Make-up and hair will also react very differently indoors to outdoors with humidity, wind, cold, heat. You will be able to do interior and exterior shoots in order to master this aspect of your art too.

ARE YOU AN ESTABLISHED ARTIST AND LOOKING AT UPDATING YOUR PORTFOLIO?

You may well be an established artist so this day is also perfect for you. As you develop as an artist, you may find you want to have new images that you haven’t yet managed to attain from shoots and tests. You are in control during the shoot day and can do what ever you wish.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL YOU RECEIVE ON THE PORTFOLIO SHOOT DAY?

Your day begins at 9.00am and comes to a close around 6.00pm. You will be able to create between 4/6 completed looks in the day plus ‘quick changes’: Lip change, eye change etc. Whereby with us, on your day you have the potential with your trainers guidance to achieve 4-6 set ups, therefore creating 8 – 12 individual images.

WHERE DOES YOUR PORTFOLIO SHOOT DAY TAKE PLACE?

The MACH Studio, house and grounds (including woodland and lake) and surrounding countryside/buildings in the glorious Cotswolds will be at your disposal. Each room is themed, with many props and back grounds, therefore providing an endless catalogue of themes for your looks.

A CD containing your images from the shoot day is provided within 2 weeks of your Portfolio day. Untouched and re touched images to see your progression, will be included on the disc. Furthermore you will also receive ‘behind’ the scenes images of yourself at work. These are really great for you to use on your social media business pages, adding a truly personal insight into you at work. In order for the images to be used on all your marketing material they will be produced in both high and low resolution.

Booking professional models, photographer, and stylist will all be options you can choose when designing your Portfolio Day.

Included:a full wardrobe and props, lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
